Guardiola, 41, has a current contract which expires at the end of this season, but has yet to commit his future to the Catalan club.

After spending the vast majority of his playing and managerial career at the Camp Nou, Guardiola is expected to stay amid rumours European clubs and national teams are interested in his services, and Pedro is hopeful that his re-signing will become official in the near future.

"We are sure he is going to renew his contract; that he will go on," Pedro said. "He is a very important person for this club, he knows how it works.

"I think all Barca fans want him as well and I hope he renews as soon as possible. As I say, he has the last word, he has to decide but we support him."

Second-placed Barca, meanwhile, will take on lowly Sporting Gijon this Saturday as they attempt to cut the 10-point margin opened up by leaders Real Madrid.

"We've always said it is difficult to overcome when we are 10 points behind (Real Madrid)," Pedro said. "But what is clear is that we are not giving up any match, any title.

"There are a lot of matches left and we are going to fight till the end. And I think the team is fit to go for every title. Every match is complicated, as I said before. They seem easier but I insist there is no easy match, there is no match in which you can be sure to get the three points."
