Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli has moved to calm speculation over the club's summer transfer plans, insisting they will not spend on the scale of last year.Andrew Carroll, Luis Suarez, Jose Enrique, Jordan Henderson, Sebastian Coates and Stewart Downing all came in as part of a £120 million spending spree while Craig Bellamy was signed on a free transfer.
Comments from Comolli after the Carling Cup final had raised supporters' hopes that the club could be big movers again when the transfer market reopens. He had stated the Cup success meant a lot of players are "very interested about joining the project".
Reports earlier this week linked the Anfield club with a triple swoop for Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita, Athletic Bilbao's Javi Martinez and Lille's in-demand forward Eden Hazard.
"It is early days. We will probably make some adjustments in the summer but nothing that we've done before,'' he said. "We signed nine players since Kenny came back so there will be a few adjustments but nothing massive.
"We have done the hard work and now it is a question of making some adjustments in certain positions.
"Kenny has said it several times that we have a very competitive squad and all positions are covered by two or three players, quality players, and we have a lot of young players coming through as well.''
